World-Class Development
From Day One

Plenty of programmes talk about AI: its history, its governance, its potential. This one puts it to work.

From the very first workshop, participants use real AI tools (Copilot, Claude and ChatGPT) on their own workload: analysis, reporting, drafting and automation. They learn to write prompts that get reliable results, to check and challenge what comes back, and to build AI into how their reports, documents and processes are actually produced. Not in theory. Not one day. At their desk, that same week.

What you get back is a different colleague: faster, more consistent, more accurate. Someone who improves processes rather than just following them, and who can be trusted with clients and stakeholders at a more senior level.

Real AI tools from the first workshop

  • Prompting for reliable results
  • Checking and challenging outputs
  • Building AI into live reports, documents and processes
  • Learn what should never go into a public tool

Who is it for? Probably
more people than you think.

The people whose working day runs on email, documents, spreadsheets and deadlines. The job title doesn’t matter: coordinator, assistant, officer, executive, scheduler, receptionist, account handler. If the role involves planning, organising, reporting, responding and keeping things on track, this programme was built for it.

Done brilliantly, that work compounds: faster decisions, cleaner handoffs, retained clients, teams freed up to do their real jobs.

It suits anyone ready to move from following the process to improving it. Anyone whose productivity would be transformed by AI. Anyone you can picture leading a team in two years.

Now count how many people in your organisation fit that description. That’s your cohort, and every one of them delivers three baselined, measured improvements. The return scales with the intake.

Measured, validated ROI.
No made-up claims.

Fuel programmes are built to prove their value, not just promise it. Every improvement is baselined before it starts and measured after it lands, and participants log their results in our online ROI tracker throughout. You see the return as it happens: reviewed with you at months four, seven and ten, and totalled in black and white by the end. Real value, demonstrated, at every level of your organisation.

Three baselined, measured improvements per participant, evidenced ROI from the first months, and a levy spend you can defend line by line in any budget review.Routine work right first time, hours returned every week as AI takes on the reports, drafting and data work, and one less person who needs chasing. The ROI tracker shows exactly what their team member now delivers.A multiplier, not just a learner. Participants coach colleagues in everything they build, so one place on the programme raises the standard, and the output, of everyone around them.Streamlined processes, fewer errors and lower risk, with quality, data protection and compliance built into everything delivered. Improvements that stick, documented and handed on.New capability, real AI skills and a tracked record of measurable improvements: the kind of development that makes good people stay.

ROI that continues long after the programme ends

The return doesn’t stop at graduation; it compounds. The improved reports and streamlined processes keep paying out every week they run. The capability stays and grows, in the participant and in everyone they’ve coached. Developed people stay longer, so the talent you invested in is the talent you keep. The programme has an end date. The ROI doesn’t.

What it costs. What it takes.

  • The cost

Fully covered by your Apprenticeship Levy, with commercial funding options also available.

  • The time

Around six hours a week, built into the working week. Learning never competes with the day job; it improves it.

  • Your effort

Minimal by design. We handle eligibility, enrolment and scheduling. The only admin required from you is signing off.

Challenge, Change, Champion.
That’s how businesses thrive.

We build the confidence and capability to use AI safely and productively: enhancing everyday tasks, optimising productivity. What we don’t do is drown participants in theory about AI, large language models and automation that they’ll never influence or control. Every hour of this programme is spent on skills they’ll use at their desk, that same week.

New tools can feel daunting at first. That’s why the programme is built for how people really learn: one cycle, run three times over ten months, so every skill is learned, applied and embedded before the ambition steps up.

The cycle is built on the participant’s real work. No fabricated scenarios, no case studies about fictional companies. Real tasks, familiar systems and their own data. That means instant application and ROI that starts in cycle one, not after graduation.

One cycle, run three times over ten months,
and always focused on real work.

Every cycle starts with a baseline and ends with a measured result, so you see the return as it lands, not just at the end. And every cycle builds the human skills that make the technical ones stick: questioning, listening, engaging stakeholders, influencing decisions and presenting results with confidence. By the end, participants have scoped, delivered, measured and presented three real improvements: a full dress rehearsal for the End Point Assessment.

How we deliver

Delivery that fits.

Flex, Focus, Fusion. We offer the choice of three delivery models – so we can build the perfect programme to suit your precise needs, cohort size and preferred learning environment. Three delivery models, one decision: how do you need it delivered?

Getting started

From meeting to launch
in three simple steps.

Programme structure in detail

Learn it in a workshop. Apply it to a live project. Embed it with a coach. Refresh it whenever it’s needed.

THE CADENCE

The rhythm is simple: one workshop and one coaching session every month, for ten months. Learn it in the workshop, apply it on the job, embed it with your coach, with Fuel’s digital library backing you up in between. The three Challenge, Change, Champion cycles run across the ten months, so every workshop feeds a live improvement, not a folder of notes.

ten workshops • Three hours each • Online

  • Power Tools – spreadsheets and Microsoft 365 at practitioner level: the formulas, formatting and shortcuts that turn hours into minutes.
  • AI That Delivers – hands-on with Copilot, Claude and ChatGPT: prompting for analysis, drafting and automation, checking outputs, and what never goes into a public tool.
  • Documents That Decide – reports, proposals and correspondence people act on, with structure, tone and authority, drafted with AI and finished with judgement.
  • Fix the Flow – process improvement fundamentals: mapping how work really happens, finding the waste, and building the case for change.
  • Right and Safe – quality, data protection and compliance: GDPR in practice, handling confidential information, and error-proofing your own and others’ work.
  • The Bigger Picture – business awareness: how your organisation makes and spends money, who its stakeholders are, and how your work moves the numbers.
  • Run It Like a Project – scoping, planning, monitoring and reporting: the project management tools to deliver your improvement cycles on time.
  • Decisions With Confidence – sound judgement under pressure: weighing information, managing risk, and knowing when to decide and when to escalate.
  • Say It So It Lands – communication and influence: presenting results, managing stakeholders, and carrying authority in meetings, in writing and on screen.
  • Bring Others With You – coaching and championing: sharing best practice, developing colleagues, and preparing your Showcase.

THE TEN COACHING SESSIONS

One-to-one, every four weeks, each following that month’s workshop. Your coach turns learning into workplace application: choosing the improvement, capturing the baseline, applying the skills and tools live, and logging the measured result in the ROI tracker. Coaching is where the three Challenge, Change, Champion cycles actually happen, and where your portfolio of evidence builds itself along the way.

THE DIGITAL LIBRARY AND THE SHOWCASE

A full suite of online training content, created and curated by Fuel Learning, available 24/7, so every skill from every workshop is on tap at the moment it’s actually needed. Scheduling runs through the FuelHub or a dedicated Fuel Learner Manager, and the Showcase closes the programme: measured ROI presented to senior stakeholders.

The End Point Assessment

Every apprenticeship finishes with an independent End Point Assessment (EPA). On this programme it isn’t a hurdle at the end. It’s the Champion stage with an external audience. By the time the EPA arrives, participants have already scoped, delivered, measured and presented three real improvements. The EPA puts that on the national record.

Completed over a typical three-month window, entirely online if preferred, and independently assessed, the EPA has three parts:

  • Knowledge test. A 60-minute online test of 50 multiple-choice questions, covering the fundamentals every strong administrator carries: regulation and data protection, business fundamentals and project management principles.
  • Portfolio-based interview. A 30 to 45 minute professional conversation built around the portfolio of real work compiled across the programme. No surprises: it’s a discussion of what they’ve actually done and what it delivered.
  • Project presentation. A presentation of a workplace improvement project, covering how it was scoped, delivered and what it returned, followed by Q&A. After three Challenge, Change, Champion cycles and the Showcase, this is home turf.

Success earns a nationally recognised grade of Pass or Distinction: a Level 3 qualification evidenced by real, measured workplace results, not just an exam score.

Where next? Progression routes

This programme is a launchpad, not a finish line. Participants leave with a Level 3 qualification, a portfolio of measured improvements, and a working AI skillset that most of their colleagues, and plenty of their managers, don’t yet have. For you, that means a development pipeline, not a one-off course.

Step into leadership
Combining data and AI capability with recognised CMI management credentials.

• Data & AI Performance Leader (Level 4)

Or deepen the specialism
And become the expert your organisation calls on.

• AI Adoption Leader (Level 4)
• Data & AI Analyst (Level 4)
• Service Improvement (Level 5)

And whichever route they take, Fuel alumni carry their ROI tracker record with them: documented, measured proof of the value they deliver.

Frequently asked questions

What does it cost us?

If you pay the Apprenticeship Levy, the programme is fully covered by it, up to the £5,000 funding band, with no course fees on top. Non-levy employers access the same programme with government covering 95% of the cost. One call and we’ll confirm your exact position.

How much time does it take out of the working week?

Around six hours a week of off-the-job learning, built into working hours: one three-hour workshop a month, a monthly coaching session, and project work that is the participant’s own role, done better. Most managers report time returned within the first cycle, not lost.

What about our data in AI tools?

Safe, compliant use is trained from day one, not bolted on. Participants learn to work within your organisation’s AI and data policies: what can and can’t go into which tool, how to check outputs, and how to build quality and data protection into every process they touch. If your organisation restricts certain tools, the programme adapts to the ones you’ve approved.

We use Microsoft Copilot / we don’t allow ChatGPT. Does the programme still work?

Yes. The skills of prompting, checking, challenging and building AI into a process transfer across every tool. We train on what your people can actually use at their desks.

What does the line manager have to do?

A short briefing at the start, sight of the ROI tracker as results land, and the final decision that their apprentice is ready for assessment. We handle the rest, including all scheduling if they prefer.

What if we invest in them and they leave?

The stronger risk runs the other way: development is one of the biggest drivers of retention, and people who are invested in stay. And because participants coach colleagues and document every improvement, the processes, templates and time savings remain yours even in the worst case.

Who is eligible?

Anyone employed in England, aged 16 or over, in a role that fits the standard. Prior qualifications rarely block enrolment, and English and maths requirements are handled within the programme in line with funding rules. We check all of this for you before anyone commits.

How many people do we need to enrol?

Cohorts work at any size, from a handful in one department to a rolling intake across the organisation. Larger cohorts compound the return: participants coach each other, improvements spread faster, and the ROI tracker rolls everything into one report you can put in front of the board.

When can they start?

We have new cohorts starting every quarter.
